Doing Philosophy with Young People in the Philippines (Closed)

CALL FOR BOOK CHAPTER PROPOSALS:

Aletheia Publishing is pleased to invite Filipino philosophers, educators, and scholars to contribute to an upcoming book that will map the development and progress of Philosophy for Children (P4wC) in the Philippines over the past three decades. This book, which will be published in 2026, aims to highlight the efforts, challenges, and successes in introducing philosophy to children and young people and cultivating Communities of Inquiry throughout the country following Prof. Zosimo Lee's introduction of P4wC in 1996.

Prof. Lee introduced P4wC in the Philippines after attending the Mendham workshop of the Institute for the Advancement of Philosophy for Children (IAPC) in 1996. Since then, there has been a steady growth in integrating P4wC into educational practices across the Philippines.

Chapter proposals from those who have previously engaged with Philosophy for/with Children (P4wC) in the Philippines, those who are currently practicing it, and those who are committed to advancing P4wC in the future are invited in the upcoming edited book DOING PHILOSOPHY WITH YOUNG PEOPLE IN THE PHILIPPINES, to be published in 2026 under Aletheia Philosophy Series. Your insights and experiences are invaluable in documenting the journey and shaping the future of P4wC in the Philippines. Please submit your chapter proposals by November 15, 2024. For inquiries and submissions, please email  peterelicor@gmail.com. Other details below:
